when you know, you know

There's a lot of themes running around the blogosphere. Cupcakes make everything better, keep calm and carry on, etc.

Well, one of my favorite themes is 'When You Know, YOU KNOW'. Ohhh yes. So many love stories I've read where this sentence was used. When you know, you know. Cue swooning. And maybe some classical music. And then a white wedding! It's MAGIC. And then make sure to blog about it and tell it to your single readers. {how's that for snark?}

Over here, things are a lil different.

Remember my date with Mr. Mysterious? The crazy stalker as my sister affectionately calls him?

Well. He is a douchebag. And trust me, I know. Somebody thought this was going to be...ahem {keepin' it PG and all}...a slumber party! WHAT WHAT! GSW does not roll like that, kids. Oh no, we keep it classy over here. I'm not a nun, but...really??

And that's when you know, you KNOW someone is a dbag. And I should be thanking baby Jesus I didn't go out with him because he probably would have kept me in a well and forced me to put lotion on. Hell no, Buffalo Bill.

On that note...happy Friday, lovers!

*this post was a total collaboration with my wonderful sister. we almost died laughing {true story}. she's having a giveaway of surprises...go enter here. and can i get an 'amen' for amazing sisters that are more outraged then you are. she's bad ass.

go team!

There are those almost age-old debates that drive bloggers crazy.
Kinda like:
cupcakes or cookies
Angels or Dodgers {I'm a SoCal girl, remember}
lomography or Polaroid
'stache or no 'stache
decisions, decisions, decisions
and we all must chose for ourselves.
Me:
cupcakes
Angels
both + the orton-ish feature
'stache {why not!}
and
Team Jacob
I mean, Edward is absurdly good looking
and I know, Jacob is a minor {i'm a puma, rawr!}
but that's just me:
Team Jacob

*I have a 'date' to see New Moon after our Thanksgiving dinner with my sister...we saw Twilight at the same time last year. We both were slightly wine-drunk, it was awesome.

when a stranger calls

My phone rang a few weeks ago and it was a number I didn't recognize, with an unfamiliar area code. I ignored it.

{I am seriously not a big phone person. I love to text! Let's text! Just text me! I don't even like picking up the phone and ordering a pizza - but shoot, you know I will.}

Anyways, my phone then pinged with a voicemail. Of course, I waited like 3 days to check it. {I don't know why that is. but that's typical gabby.}

It was a guy, with a slight Texan accent.

"Hey Gabby, it's So-and-So. We dated about 3 years ago and then I moved back to Texas. But I'm back now and it'd be great to see you. Call me, let's have dinner."

I had NO clue who it was. I was racking my brain. It's not like I have dated tons of guys. And 3 years ago...well, I was fresh from a bad heart break and I was basically just sitting on my bed, reading It's Called a Break-Up Because It's Broken over and over and eating lots of cheese. I wasn't really a hot date then {but now - shzam! oh my, i love sarcasm}.

I texted back {of course} that it seemed he had the wrong girl. He texted back that he was sure he didn't. He texted back with some details that were not me and a picture of him. I told him that he was a stranger to me...but then we had the mystery of why he had my number and name {I don't think my voicemail message says my name. Hmm. Someone call me and check. I promise I won't answer. haha.} We figured maybe we met somewhere randomly or maybe we exchanged emails on an online dating site {yes, I've ventured out there a few times.}

He texted "well, maybe it's just meant to be then"

I met him this past Friday, randomly {which seems to be the theme here}. I was already out with friends and he stopped by to say hi. He's funny, cute, conversation went really well. All good things. We're having dinner on Thursday.

I'm sorta kinda a lil excited.

weekend in pictures

1. Farmer's market. What's the best part of the FM? The samples. It's Costco for the healthy kids. I tried a persimmon for the first time {meh} and bought some Asian pears that taste like honey. Also: a huge eggplant. I've never done anything with an eggplant. Help!
2. I dyed my hair blue-black. Not a huge change, but it gives it a little oomph. {and someone's been playing with the Orton-ish feature on Picnik}

3. Turkey burger with gorgonzola and fig balsamic syrup on a brioche bun. So freaking good, I made these twice this weekend. Too good.

That's pretty much it. How was your weekend?

my blog is so pretty like model or cheerleader

ljkc design

I am in love with my new blog design.
Once again, LJKC took my very scattered, non-helpful ideas
and made magic.
Some new things:
If we're cool and all and you have a blog button, tell me
and I'll put you right over there --->
I'm all about supporting my loves.
I also now have a blog button...make it yours.
{if you work in health care, "gsw" means something not so good.
I know. gun shot wounds are no fun. but I am. ha.}
You can click the "About" on top for a lil more about me.
But it's pretty standard info.
You know me.

One other thing:
LJKC is super creative {clearly} and she is a finalist in the
Shabby Apple Dare to Design contest!
Her dress is killer.
I'd love you forever if you voted for her.
Click here and leave a comment...her dress is #1 {no, really...coincidence? me thinks not}
Thank you!

get @ me!

say nice things
