Summer Sangria

Sometimes Elizabeth Marie has really brilliant ideas
Like last night, when she said
"I want to make sangria"
As a supportive sister,
I sliced and squeezed and stirred
and drank.

{if you look behind the club soda, you can see my lil tomato of joy!}

Sangria*
1.5 L red wine (we used real klassy cheap burgundy)
1 cup pineapple juice
juice from 2 lemons, 2 oranges, 2 limes
1/4 cup sugar
thinly sliced lemons, oranges, limes and strawberries
2 cups club soda
(hard alcohol can be added...most recipes called for brandy. we skipped it)
We let it sit in the fridge for a few hours.
It tastes like summer.

*this is a mix of a few recipes. Maybe not authentic but don't rain on my parade!

Happy Weekend! Happy 4th of July!

I am going to have to try this recipe asap! I have never been a big fan of red wine, but lately it seems to be growing on me. and I can only assume adding juice, sugar and club soda will make it even better! yum! :)

btw, I came to your blog thru your sis' blog. I'm loving your blog header! so cute.

We were totally on the same page- there is a huge pitcher of sangria in my fridge already simmering to take to the pool for the 4th today...I don't even really drink anymore, but what's a summer holiday without a fabulous glass of fruity vino? Happy day! -e
