Gretchen

I feel like I am writing this all too much
{and oh I am jesus I am}
but my friend passed away suddenly on Thursday and I am so sad.
Gretchen was a good friend and I'm realizing that more and more every minute that goes by.
She had a huge impact on my life in the past 8 years.
*When my fiancé and I broke up, I stayed with her and she made me make lists of all the things I had to do and most importantly, she made believe I could do them all.
*The first time I met her, she made me promise not to let anyone slip a roofie in her drink.
*Gretchen hosted craft nights and scary movie nights at her house. Her scary movie nights were modified for me, because she knew I wouldn't show up if it was a super scary movie.
*When I was in the hospital, she visited and brought a huge bunch of stuffed-animal type flowers {um it's hard to describe} and she sat on my bed and told funny stories to my mom and I.
*At my friends 30th birthday party, she got up to sing karaoke and said in the microphone "Happy Birthday Maryanne!!" and well...my friends name was Annmarie.
*She invented a game called "Have-To", where you have to pick someone you'd get it on with in the room if you were forced to pick. Imagine that...sometimes it's not so easy to pick one!
*We once planned to treat ourselves to a fancy dinner. I dressed up. She inexplicably showed up wearing a Superman shirt. I was embarrassed and then had the greatest time with her.
*She wasn't afraid to take vacations by herself. If she wanted to do something, she'd do it.

She was the best and although it's hard to think positive right now...I have so many happy memories with Gretchen. I thought I would have time to make a lot more. And some of the things I've mentioned are little things, but they make me smile.
I will forever miss her and be so thankful for her friendship.

I am sorry for your loss. I hope you find the courage and strength you need in this difficult time of change.

Some of the things you mentioned were "small things", but it's the small things that mean the most!

Sending hugs to you.

i am so very sorry that you lost your friend. the funeral will be hard. but i bet it will be filled with wonderful stories about her, and i am sure you have many a tale you can share with all if you are so inclined. if not, no worries, as sometimes it is hard to speak up at a funeral when so many emotions are everywhere.
